This is a 2 Day Course.
Beginning January
2002, individuals who wish to take the R.D.A. exam will
be required to have 12 months experience rather than the
previously required 18 months.
As of July 1,
2002, individuals must also show proof of completion of
a California radiation safety course and coronal polish
course before they can receive their R.D.A. license.
As of October
2004, all R.D.A.s who have not completed x-ray and coronal
polish courses for their license renewal have been granted
a 1 year extension and must do so by January 1, 2006.
Instruction
We offer a COMDA/Dental
Board approved 12 hour coronal polish course. This two day
course provides you with comprehensive theory and clinical
instruction, which includes the use of video, slide presentation
and hands on clinical instruction. Upon completion of this
course and all other state requirements for the RDA, you
may perform this procedure.
Supplies
Students are
required to bring all supplies required to perform a coronal
polish to both days of class. A detailed list of required
armamentarium will be provided as part of the student's
confirmation packet upon registration of the course.

Course
Requirements
All students
are required to participate as patients on the first day
of the course. On the last day of the course, the student
is required to provide two patients that are: 18 years of
age or older, calculus free and have a moderate amount of
plaque present. In addition to passing the clinical portion
of the coronal polishing course, the student will also be
required to pass a written final exam.
